Archives For Test

Historical wind tunnel video of flutter testing of various model aircraft.

This document presents findings from the Grob Spn Flutter accident investigation in which the elevator departed the aircraft during flight test.

The flight test was conducted after modification to the elevator without re-accomplishing any additional ground vibration testing or analysis.

It was presented at the September 2010 Flight Test Safety workshop.

Leaders are critical nodes in the human network, and it takes a leader to recognize when what is being measured does not show the true progress at major waypoints like the end of a year.

For example, I’ve met two wonderful Long Tail leaders, but I never expected to nor planned to (and thus had not established metrics in this area). Read about John Cook and Chris Findley in Outliers – Who to Follow.

I also met two aviation enthusiasts who shared pictures for Airplanes by Design. Meet them here: Aeronca Champ and DeHavilland Beaver.

Never did I anticipate this either, but I was honored to contribute to the Plane Conversations blog this month as well.  Expect more like this.

Last but not least, FlightTestFact, a new Twitter account featuring daily bits of knowledge, links, references, photos, etc., was launched this past month.

Please feel free to explore all the categories and columns, including bi-weekly book reviews and flight test charts as well.

If you would like to submit a book review (about leadership, math, flying, etc.), an airplane picture, an aero graph, or you want to share your blog about a significant leader in your life, please comment below of connect directly with me through social media by the icons on the right. Thanks for reading!
