Watermelons were the focus of this month’s examination of analytical tools of mathematics and statistics (ATOMs) — to the right is a graphic illustrating an ATOM which also happens to be the logo for mc2. The point is, little things can make a big difference. Assumptions are litte things, and understanding our assumptions makes a big difference–like knowing where we start from, because it determines a lot about where we end up or whether we get lost.
Airplanes by Design went inside the cockpit this month as this is the perfect place to illustrate the human factors element, which was the topic for several videos and references as well.
Finally, Launch Your Flight Test Career posts focused on a soon to be published book, You Can Be a Test Pilot, and you can read an excerpt here.
As always, each week, you’ll continue to find a flight test video on Tuesday, Airplanes by Design on Wednesday, and Flight Test References on Thursday. (Though this past month there was a technical hiccup — I forgot to “publish” two drafts in the middle week — and I apologize sincerely!)

Outliers — Who to Follow introduces leaders of significance (on one Saturday each month), but this month was a review of a very old manifesto by Seth Godin that went along with the watermelon theme mentioned above.
