For the entire month of January, the theme has been the aeronautical chart and its application to leadership, business, and flying. These are examples of the ATOM that you can download here, Picture =1000 Words, that is, a picture is worth a thousand words.

There are countless uses of graphics, pictures, and illustrations in every business, organization, and personal enterprise. In the context of the aeronautical chart and it’s applications, here are two specific things to remember about the use of ATOMs, like pictures:
1. Leadership sometimes needs ATOMs. For example, the pilot needs formulas to compute ground speed, time elapsed, etc., to annotate on the chart and help him find his way.
2. The use of ATOMs needs Leadership. Tasks like selecting the optimal route to fly and choosing good references for navigation require the involvement of the pilot, require decisions by a leader, to be effective.
