NASA designated this unique aircraft used for oblique wing research as the AD-1 (Ames/Dryden – 1). (Video: AD-1 Wing pivot in flight : This is just one of the videos available from NASA’s description of the project here.)

This multiple exposure aircraft shows the different positions of the wing that were flown in flight test research.

This is a top view of the aircraft with a 60 degree wing sweep.

The underside, fuselage, and engines of the AD-1.
An interesting note from the NASA description of this project states: “The oblique wing is still considered a viable concept for large transport aircraft.”
